Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) Current Jobs in Nigeria: Vacancies for Principal, Head Teacher

THE ORGANIZATION:

The Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) is a public funded College of Education established by the Lagos State Government over 50 years ago to provide non
graduate teachers for the primary and the post primary schools in the State.

THE AOCOED INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS:

The AOCOED International School (AIS) was established on October 6, 2003 to provide quality education or international standard at the secondary school level for the children of members of staff of the College children from the host communities/environs and indeed Nigerians in general.

The AIS is fully approved by the Lagos State Ministry of Education, the National Examination Council (NECO) and the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to operate as a private school with all the rights and privileges to admit, nurture and prepare students for all national and international examinations.

THE AOCOED STAFF SCHOOL:

The AOCOED Staff School was founded in October 1992 to complement the effort of the Lagos State Government at giving basic education to all children and rid the streets of miscreants. The AOCOED Staff School has three sections, namely: the Reception, the Nursery and the Primary, all approved by the Lagos State Ministry of Education.

JOB TITLE:   Principal

THE CANDIDATE:
  • The Principal is the Head of the International School and has the general responsibility for matters relating to the day to day management/operations of the School,
  • He/She is also responsible for policy execution as it affects the School,
  • He/She must be a person that possesses an internal drive for success, initiative and vision,
  • He/She must be role model and possesses a convincing power to manage students at the secondary school level.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS,SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • A first degree in the field of Education with not less than a second class (lower division) or a first degree in any field not less than a second class (lower division) with a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or a first degree in any field not less than a second class (lower division) with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE),
  • A Master’s Degree in the field of Education,
  • Registration with the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria is essential,
  • Must possess a minimum of 12 years of post graduate/professional/Teaching and administrative experience in a Secondary School,
  • Candidates must have held senior positions NOT BELOW the grade of Vice Principal in School Administration at the Secondary School level.

POST TITLE:   Head Teacher

The Job and the Person
  • The Headteacher of the AOCOED Staff School has the general responsibility for matters relating to the day to day management/operations of the School,
  • He/She is also responsible for policy execution as it affects the school,
  • He/She must be a person that possesses an internal drive for success, initiative, vision and of high integrity,
  • He/She must be role model, a father/mother figure and possesses a demonstrated ability to manage pupils at the Reception, Nursery and Primary School levels.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • A first degree in the field of Education with not less than a second class (lower division) or a first degree in any field not less than a second class (lower division) with a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or a first degree in any field not less than a second class (lower division) with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE),
  • A Master’s degree will be an added advantage,
  • Registration with the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria is essential,
  • Must possess a minimum of 12 years of graduate/professional and administrative experience which must have been gained in a comparable school.

Names and addresses of three (3) Referees, at least two (2) of whom should be able to write on the academic and professional competences of the candidate.
