POST TITLE:   Finance Manager

JOB LOCATION: Lagos

THE CANDIDATES:
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for overall management of the financial department including the accounting, budget preparation and monitoring of performance against this, treasury management, the application of International Financial Reporting Standards, the implementation of appropriate internal controls and strategic financial planning,
  • He/she will provide financial information needed to make informed decisions regarding the strategic direction of the company,
  • He/she will oversee the implementation of the annual budget and develop a financial systems infrastructure to meet the organization’s continued growth and expansion needs. Specifically, the candidate will:
  • Provide leadership for effective implementation, measurement and the oversight of financial decisions,
  • Formulate and implement finance policies and procedures,
  • Drive the transition from the current Nigeria Accounting Standard Board (NASS) standards to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS),
  • Actively monitor and manage the budget and the budgeting process,
  • Monitor actual performance against budget using appropriate measurement tools,
  • Monitor performance of the organization against other industry participants,
  • Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry,
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports,
  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations,
  • Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans projects, programs, and systems,
  • Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders,
  • Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas,
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range Finance Departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance from a reputable institution,
  • Relevant professional qualification(s) i.e. ACCA, CA or ACA is essential,
  • Minimum of six years’ finance related experience with at least two years as the Finance Manager for a reputable insurance company,
  • Must be computer literate, particularly with Microsoft Office software and Insurance-specific IT software, and be able to work in a team-based multi-cultural environment,
  • The ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers staff and external contacts,
  • The ability to work effectively in a professional environment,
  • Strong understanding of Insurance regulations and management,
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial ability in a complex organization,
  • Thorough IFRS knowledge with the ability to implement the requirements of these Standards.

POST TITLE:   Operations Manager

JOB LOCATION: Lagos

THE CANDIDATE:

the successful candidate will be responsible for the technical administration of the company’s life insurance portfolio. She/he will oversee the processing and underwriting of new life business, policy servicing including the settlement of claims and intermediaries’ compensation, premium collection and allocation. Specifically, the candidate will:
  • Develop and implement efficient operational processes for managing a strongly diversified life insurance book of business,
  • Play a key role in the implementation of IT systems to support the business,
  • Provide leadership for effective implementation and measurement of operating policies and procedures,
  • Play a major role in the development of new products and services,
  • Develop product documentation of the highest quality and distinction,
  • Actively monitor performance against budget and expected key indicators and promptly address deviations from these targets,
  • Coordinate the preparation of operational reports,
  • Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems,
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range operational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Insurance, Actuarial Science or Mathematics and Statistics from a reputable institution,
  • A master’s degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science or Mathematics and Statistics will be an added advantage,
  • Relevant professional qualification(s) i.e. ACII or FCII,
  • Minimum of eight years’ related life insurance experience with at least three years life insurance experience in a senior management position for a reputable insurance company,
  • Thorough knowledge of the insurance regulatory environment; The Insurance Act and Regulations and the NAICOM guidelines,
  • Strong understanding of Insurance and Reinsurance, management and practice,
  • Must be computer literate, particularly with Microsoft Office software and Insurance-specific IT, software, and be able to work in a team-based multi-cultural environment,
  • The ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, staff and external contacts,
  • The ability to work effectively in a professional environment,
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial ability in a complex organization.
