A Newly Established Company Current Jobs in Nigeria: Vacancies for Head, Power Contracts and Power Procurement, Head, Finance and Administration

THE ORGANIZATION:

A newly established government-owned public liability company is seeking qualified and exceptional candidates to fill the following executive management positions:

POST TITLE:   Head, Power Contracts and Power Procurement

JOB SUMMARY:
  • The Head of the Power Contracts and Procurement department has overall responsibility for managing the organization’s contractual relationships with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), Distribution Companies and other power sector entities, and for directing IPP planning and procurement activities.
  • This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A degree in business, economics engineering or related degree,
  • At least ten (10) years of progressive experience in an energy transacting environment or related function,
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams as well as internal/external stakeholders Desired:
  • Ability to direct the daily operations of the Contracts and,
  • Procurement Unit, including direct supervision and development of professional and administrative staff,
  • Experience providing support activities to Finance staff in the areas of fiscal management, audit, and financial reporting,
  • Knowledge of Nigeria or similar power and natural gas markets,
  • electricity regulatory framework, roles System and Market Operations in electricity markets, market design, utility economics and IPP costs,
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial structuring of power contracts,
  • Experience negotiating power contracts or similar contracts,
  • Familiarity with power system planning and procurement,
  • Familiarity with compliance monitoring systems and document management systems,
  • Understanding of business ethics and integrity for the commercial contracting and procurement functions,
  • Ability to drive multiple priorities with urgency, and to effectively lead and motivate,
  • High level of self-motivation and organization,
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral),
  • Aptitude for strategic and analytical thought with keen business acumen.

POST TITLE:   Head, Finance and Administration

JOB SUMMARY:
  • The Head of the Finance and Administration department has overall responsibility for managing the organization’s financial activities, management services and human resources,
  • The Head, Finance and Administration reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, math, finance, economics, engineering, accounting, or related degree
  • Chartered accountant or equivalent,
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience in finance, credit and budgets,
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing strong teams.
DESIRED:
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field preferred,
  • At least five (5) years in corporate finance, investment banking or related field preferred,
  • Demonstrated experience in, and technical knowledge of financing concepts,
  • Experience reporting on financial results and cost projections to executive management,
  • Ability to ensure that all financial and accounting reports are prepared arid submitted in a timely manner,
  • Knowledge of financial risk management practices,
  • Previous experience in the energy, utility or iPP industry,
  • Demonstrated knowledge of finance and accounting software and database applications,
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive-level internal and external stakeholders,
  • Experience overseeing compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures,
  • Process improvement capabilities/training,
  • Proven experience developing and implementing administrative and human resources systems,
  • Ability to supervise a team of administrative and support personnel.

POST TITLE:   General Counsel

JOB SUMMARY:
  • The General Counsel serves as in-house counsel on contracts including development of contract language, negotiations with counterparties and resolution of disputes; manages litigation and arbitration proceedings; leads regulatory and legislative initiatives; and advises the Chief Executive Officer and the Board on all legal and regulatory issues that arise. The General Counsel reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Law Degree, 10 years post Call and an admission to the Nigerian Bar,
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience,
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills,
  • Ability to organize and apply legal concepts and principles,
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiations of long tenured contracts,
  • Ability to interpret analyze and prepare contract documents.
DESIRED:
  • Five (5) years of related progressive legal /regulatory experience, preferably in corporate law,
  • Experience in regulatory and legislative matters in the power and gas industries,
  • Knowledge of Nigeria or similar power and natural gas markets and the roles and responsibilities of the various industry players,
  • Experience working with power infrastructure or related contracts.

POST TITLE:   Head Human Resources

JOB SUMMARY:
  • The Human Resources Manager guides and manages the overall Human Resource activities for the company,
  • The Human Resources manager originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce and assists and advises company managers about Human Resources issues,
  • The Head, Human Resources reports directly to the Head, F&A.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business Administrations or Organization Development,
  • Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions or closely related positions,
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills,
  • Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development employee relations, safety, and training and development,
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs.
DESIRED:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Human Resources staff members,
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a successful participant on the executive management team that provides company leadership and direction,
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the company Board of Directors,
  • Excellent computer skills in database management and record keeping,
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labour relations, preferred.
